Windstar has completed a refurbishment of its 148-passenger original sailing yacht, Wind Star.
The 40-year-old vessel, one of the pioneers of modern yacht cruising, is the first in the Windstar fleet to complete both phases of the line’s Setting Sails refurbishment project.
“With these significant updates, we’ve honoured what guests love most while elevating every aspect of the experience,” said Chief Operating Officer Stijn Creupelandt.
As part of the update, the yacht’s signature restaurant Amphora has been fully redesigned with new flooring, wall finishes and ceiling treatments, along with custom banquette seating and updated furnishings.
The Veranda restaurant has a refreshed interior and a new buffet layout, which Wind Star said has created a ‘more seamless and relaxed dining experience’.
Stateroom updates include new upholstered headboards, integrated lighting and bedside charging points, building on phase one enhancements such as upgraded technology, Starlink connectivity, new TVs with on-demand content and a redesigned Owner’s Suite.
Earlier upgrades also updated the lobby, Compass Rose Lounge, Yacht Club Café and pool deck, along with a fully refreshed World Spa by Windstar and an upgraded fitness centre.
Across the yacht, finishing touches include commissioned artwork, created in partnership with Miami-based Fountainhead Art, enhanced lighting, state-of-the-art audio systems, new teak decking and refined design details.
Wind Star is sailing from Barcelona throughout May and June and from June to October it will operate a Greek Isles itinerary offering seven-night round-trip cruises from Athens.
Next year, the yacht will join Star Breeze in Tahiti, offering year-round cruises.
Windstar has already begun the second phase of the refurbishment of Wind Surf, which should be finished in December, followed by Wind Spirit in March 2027.
