Viking orders two new expedition ships

Viking has ordered two brand new expedition ships to be built by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri.

The new ships, which will be able to operate in the polar regions, are due to be delivered in 2030 and 2031.

They will be sister ships to Viking’s current expedition vessels, Viking Octantis (pictured) and Viking Polaris.

Built at Fincantieri’s Palermo yard, each ship will sleep 378 guests in 189 cabins.

In addition to the expedition ships, Viking has taken options on two more ocean ships for delivery in 2034, each with capacity for 998 guests in 499 cabins.
