Tailor-made specialist launches agent holiday competition amid surge in last-minute long-haul bookings

Prestige Travel is reporting a ‘notable surge’ in last-minute bookings to Australia and New Zealand.

The tailor-made specialist said demand for New Zealand is ‘accelerating at a particularly strong pace’.

“This marks an unusual trend for such long-haul destinations, with some clients booking just four to six weeks before departure,” it said.

Demand for New Zealand is being driven by experience-led travel, with many travellers prioritising nature-based activities and immersive self-drive journeys.

While the majority of bookings continue to be made well in advance, Prestige said it had seen an increase in customers confirming just days before departure.

“This reflects a growing shift toward more spontaneous travel planning. New Zealand is seeing exceptional last-minute demand right now,” said Programme Ambassador Jenny Taylor-Page.

“Travellers are eager to get there, often with limited lead time, which can make availability more challenging—particularly when it comes to accommodation options and flight routings.”

Jenny said when options are limited, Prestige focuses on alternative routes or experiences and flexible planning.

To further support agent engagement, every New Zealand booking made with Prestige Travel will automatically be entered into a prize draw for an agent to win a New Zealand holiday for two.

Bookings that include Air New Zealand flights will receive additional prize draw entries.
