Swan Hellenic unveils series of expedition cruises for 2027

Swan Hellenic will offer a series of four cultural expedition cruises in Brazil on SH Vega in April, October and November 2027.

The final three voyages can be combined to create ‘an immersive’ 29-night cruise from Barbados to Suriname, the Salvation Islands and along the coast of Brazil into Amazonia, including Rio de Janeiro.

For clients who want to travel this year, Swan Hellenic still has cabins available on its six-night ‘Soul, Samba and Sea: Journey to the Heart of Brazil’ cruise from Salvador de Bahia to Rio de Janeiro, departing on 25 October.

The cruise takes in the historic city Paramaribo, capital of Suriname, and Île du Salut in the Salvation Islands, the setting for the classic film Papillon starring Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen.

Guests can choose to explore Amazonian biodiversity in reserves like the Rio Cajari Extractive, where locals practice traditional methods of hunting, fishing and harvesting wild plants, or the Abrolhos Marine National Park, a breeding ground for humpback whales, or venture upriver to explore the mouth of the Amazon and the heart of the rainforest, navigating the Breves Narrows, home to pink dolphins, which are accessible to only a few ships.

The first of the three Brazil voyages in 2027 is a nine-night ‘Amazonia in Depth & Lencóis Maranhenses’  departing from Fortaleza on 17 April and arriving in Belém on 26 April.

Swan Hellenic CEO Andrea Zito said: “We’re incredibly proud of these expertly curated itineraries. Travelling in exceptional comfort and a refined atmosphere of quiet luxury, guests will be treated to immersive journeys at a relaxed pace through the heart of Brazil.

“Each voyage benefits to the full from SH Vega’s boutique expedition ship dimensions and our deep commitment to sustainability, taking our guests to discover places beyond the reach of almost all other ships, so they can see what others don’t.”
