The Shangri-La Group has announced the second hotel in its ultra-luxury Shangri-La Signatures collection.
The Songtei Kyoto, located opposite UNESCO-listed Nijō Castle in Kyoto, Japan, will welcome its first guests from late 2026 before the full unveiling in early 2027.
The 77-key hotel has taken its design cues from Kyoto’s grand Edo-period residences, with rooms and suites offering views of Nijō Castle’s Kita Ote-mon (Great North Gate).
Guests will also have access to a holistic wellness sanctuary with a private spa, indoor and outdoor hot baths, an indoor pool and a state-of-the-art gym.
The culinary offering will showcase the breadth of Asian gastronomy across an all-day dining lounge, Chinese fine dining restaurant, kappo-sushi counter and intimate evening bar.
Shangri-La Signatures’ inaugural hotel, The Silk Lakehouse, Shangri-La Hangzhou, opened in Hangzhou, China in May 2025.
