OUTRIGGER opens new Phi Phi Island Resort, accessible only by boat

OUTRIGGER has opened a Phi Phi Island Resort in Thailand, expanding its portfolio in the country alongside existing properties in Koh Samui, Khao Lak and Phuket.

The five-star resort is located within Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park and is accessible only by boat. Sitting on a beachfront site surrounded by limestone cliffs and the Andaman Sea, the new property features 63 rooms.

Accommodation includes Hilltop Ocean View Pool Villas with private infinity pools, Beachfront Pool Villas and Family Garden Villas. Interiors feature handcrafted furnishings, organic textiles and design influences drawn from local island traditions.

Dining options include Mala Kitchen, serving traditional southern Thai cuisine, and Edgewater Bar & Grill, offering seafood, curries and cocktails overlooking the water. The resort’s activity programme includes PADI-certified diving excursions, eco-sensitive boat trips, long-tail boat picnics, Thai cooking classes, non-motorised water sports and bead-making workshops inspired by local craft traditions. Facilities also include Zeavola Spa, a Coral Kids Club and a teen zone.

OUTRIGGER said the resort’s design and guest experience were influenced by the indigenous Urak Lawoi community, which has lived on the islands for centuries. Guests receive handcrafted bead bracelets on arrival as part of the welcome experience. The Hawaii-based company said the resort was constructed using local and organic materials, with a focus on natural ventilation, reduced waste and environmental protection due to its location within a protected national park.

The property has also joined the Global Hotel Alliance DISCOVERY loyalty programme, giving members access to rates, rewards and recognition benefits across more than 1,000 hotels globally.

President & CEO of OUTRIGGER Hospitality Group Jeff Wagoner said: “This opening is a reflection of OUTRIGGER’s long-term commitment to Thailand and for those who make the journey here, I believe it will be unlike anything they’ve experienced before”.
