Intrepid launches Premium Family collection with eight long-haul tours

Intrepid Travel has launched a Premium Family collection, adding eight new itineraries across Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, India, Borneo, Vietnam, Morocco, Thailand and Egypt.

The new departures, from December 2026, sit above the existing Family range and combine higher-end accommodation with fully escorted, small-group touring for three to five families per departure, led by senior local guides.

Premium Family itineraries include a seven-day Costa Rica tour, starting from £2,790 per person, which includes wildlife volunteering opportunities, the Papagayo Peninsula for a catamaran cruise and stays in a rainforest lodge near La Fortuna with hot springs.

The nine-day Sri Lanka itinerary starts from £2,290pp and includes the Dambulla Cave Temples, elephant spotting in Minneriya National Park and a boat trip on the Madampe River near Galle.

Other new departures include a 10-day Morocco trip featuring a Sahara desert camp overnight stay with traditional dining, live music and stargazing. In Borneo, the new nine-day itinerary includes an overwater villa stay with kayaking, snorkelling and coral planting activities. The India Golden Triangle itinerary features wildlife viewing in Keoladeo National Park and leopard spotting in Jhalana Safari Park.

The launch comes as Intrepid reports rising demand for ‘immersive, hassle-free family adventures.’

The operator, which focuses on responsible travel, said its Family range recorded 19% year-on-year growth in 2025, and cited research indicating 80% of parents want their children to experience new cultures, while 70% prefer holidays where logistics are handled on their behalf.

The company now offers 58 family itineraries across 30 countries and six continents, with products split across four tiers: Basix, Original, Comfort and now Premium.

UK General Manager Joanna Reeve said the new launch ‘gives agents a strong opportunity to meet growing demand from families seeking shared, meaningful experiences.’

“Our new Premium Family range combines the comfort and convenience of our Premium offering with the immersive, child-friendly format of our popular Family trips,” she added.

“Led by our most experienced local leaders and featuring extensive inclusions, it gives families the chance to explore the world together without the stress of planning and logistics – from ziplining through the rainforest in Costa Rica to watching baby orangutans learn to climb in Borneo.”
