Explore Worldwide has launched five new itineraries within its Upgraded collection as demand for higher-end trips continues to grow.
New tours have been added in South Africa, Colombia, Madeira, Spain’s Andalucía and Cambodia, following a 123% increase in bookings for the collection year-on-year.
Upgraded offers small group tours similar to Explore’s main portfolio, but with premium accommodation throughout.
Most nights are spent in four-star rather than three-star hotels, but Explore says there are exceptions where ‘distinctive or characterful accommodation offers the best possible experience’.
Additionally, Explore Upgraded trips include a hosted welcome meal and an extra experience or activity that isn’t included in the standard tours.
New tours include a 14-day ‘Upgraded Best of South Africa’, which includes Cape Town, the winelands in Franschhoek or Stellenbosch and Kruger National Park.
An eight-day ‘Upgraded Highlights of Colombia’ tour includes visits to Bogota, the coffee region, Medellín and Cartagena.
In Europe, the ‘Upgraded Madeira Island Discovery’ is an eight-day trip that combines a visit to Funchal with walks along the clifftop and levada trails.
Managing Director Michael Edwards said: “Our customers tell us they love Explore’s offering of immersive experiences, expert tour leaders and small group sizes – that winning formula has not changed.
“What we’ve done with Explore Upgraded is simply add a bit more comfort where it counts most: at the end of a busy day, when a great night’s sleep and a welcoming hotel really make a difference.”
