Operators Elegant Resorts and If Only, both owned by Portman Travel Group, have achieved Travelife’s highest status, Certified.
The certification recognises the operators’ long-term commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
It confirms that both brands meet more than 200 independent criteria, covering office operations, supply chain management, product development, partner relationships and customer communication.
Other UK travel businesses with Certified status are Sunweb, Little America, Nordic Visitor, Excursions Ltd and Travel Essence.
The Travelife Standard covers environmental impact, biodiversity, human rights, and labour practices.
Managing Director Gordon McCreadie said: “Travelife Certified is a highly respected accreditation and achieving it has been a significant undertaking for our teams.
“Sustainability is a core pillar of our business strategy and central to how we operate, both at home and across our global partner network.
“As luxury specialists, we believe it is essential to protect the destinations we sell and contribute positively to the communities within them.”
If Only Sales & Operations Director David Irving, who played a key role in securing the certification together with the internal Travel Made Meaningful team, said: “This was not an easy accreditation to achieve, which is exactly why it matters.
“It demonstrates to our travel agent partners that sustainability is embedded across our business. As responsible travel becomes a bigger factor in purchasing decisions, this certification enables agents to sell with confidence and credibility.”
Travelife Manager for Tour Operators Naut Kusters added: “The certification of Elegant Resorts and If Only shows that sustainability within the tour operating sector is gaining real momentum and will inspire other UK operators to follow.”
