Air India to add First Class from Birmingham and Gatwick this summer

Air India is introducing First Class cabins on flights from Birmingham to Amritsar and Delhi, and from Gatwick to Ahmedabad and Amritsar.

The routes will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, which replaces Air India’s B787-800.

The airline has also announced it will deploy aircraft featuring new, retrofitted and upgraded cabin interiors on routes to and from the UK as part of its northern summer schedule 2026.

This will see nearly 80% of Air India’s flights to the UK operated with new or upgraded cabin interiors by August 2026.

From 1 July, the Heathrow to Mumbai route will be served by a combination of Air India’s new B787-9 and retrofitted B787-8 aircraft, both featuring new cabin interiors. These flights will replace Air India’s B777-300ERs, which already feature upgraded cabin interiors.

The Heathrow to Bengaluru route will be operated by the airline’s retrofitted B787-8 aircraft from 1 August, featuring new cabin interiors and introducing Premium Economy.
